I dropped the LS off at the dealer tonight for new brakes tomorrow and i went inside and inquired about ESP coverage for my car. I have a '05 with 40k on it now. At the rate i rack up miles i have about 4-5 months till my factory warranty runs out. Well, the premium care ESP up to 100k was quoted at $2400. So then i got to doing the math. If the factory warranty expires at 50k, and i drive roughly 25k per year, then ESP is only going to be good for another two years. Thats $1200 per year while covered, or $100 per month. That to me is a tough call to make, seems to be a big gamble either way i go. How easy is the ESP warranty to deal with at the dealer and what kind of stuff could potentially NOT be covered with the premium care ? Is the pricing a standard price guide regardless of where you buy it or was the dealer tacking on something extra for himself. $2400 seems a bit steep.

I dont understand the pricing, that link gives a price of $1490 for my year and type of coverage, but then says "does not apply to Florida residents". Why the hell would Florida be so much more ?

From what I understand FoMoCo does not provide warranty coverage in Florida but is provided by someone else through Ford. I don't know why this is so but it may be because of Florida law.
