Tire Information I never knew about!

I just purchased 4 new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, the birth date was not coded and to Sam's Club cu-does the birth date was on the warrant but then again the tires were produced outside the US.

I've known how to read these tire codes for several years. Never figured that stored tires with years of age could be that dangerous. Ill be sure to check that before I install the ones I just bought.

Discount Tire won't touch >10 yr old tires, and gave me grief for my 5 yr old A/T Pirelli's on my Discovery....but couldn't turn me down as they were within their criteria.

I have had old tires with good tread fail on me 3 seperate times in my driving experience.

I wear out tires too fast to have this be a significant problem. Current Pilot Sport P-2s are made in small quantities and sold quickly.

That used to be me..... 12 sets of tires on my 71 mustang in 2 years. Now the stang is sitting on a 6 year old set.
