Hello
I am looking for snow tires for my LS. I know for snows people recommend the 16" which i Understand why. The stock 16" are 215 60 r16. Thing is in my garage I have a very good set of 205/55 r16. I looked the size up. This will give me revs/mile of 811/mile versus 771/mile which translates to going 60 I will be going 57mph or 4.9% too fast. Other than the speedo issue can I use this on my LS? If I can use them all I need to do is find some cheap steel rims. Thanks.

i believe the side wall will be something like a inch lower vs the 215 i measured my 225s then a 215 and the side wall was taller on the 225 also dont forget under coat its a car saver

Yes I forgot to mention its an inch lower. Other than that is it ok to use?

i dont know but the car will sit a inch or so lower you wont have a clearance issue fender wise but you might have a clearance issue undercarriage to pavement wise

Well things got a bit simpler. I found 4 16 lincoln ls rims at a salvage yard nearby for $40 each. Now I will get tires from the Racki

REMEMBER FOLKS...

I ran different ratio tires (50 series up front and 45's in the Rear), then one day my LS wouldn't go past 45 mph
or anywhere close to freeway speed (it acted like it was choking, or it wasn't getting enough gas, etc...). I had to
get it towed, cause I couldn't figure it out. Because I just came off the damn freeway 15 minutes prior to my car
hesitating. Long story short .... It was the Traction Control.

The tires/wheels revolutions are some how calculated or related to the speed sensors per wheel and if something
doesn't match, it won't let you go past 45mph UNTIL you turn off the Traction Control switch. About 1-3
distance miles (or so) prior to attempting a speed higher then 45mph, -or- Until you correct the tire ratio difference.

I forgot to turn the switch off before I hit the freeway onramp...I was stuck in the slow lane for about 1/2 mile until
it actually "sensed" or "detected" that I disabled the Traction Control... People behind me were peeved !!! I pertended
I was looking for something (while driving) in my glovebox (like an idiot)...Until the traction control finally kicked off...

It's weird though...sometimes I "can" drive past 45mph w/o turning off the Traction Control other times I can't....

Yep. A smaller tire spins faster at a given speed. If that smaller tire is in back, it will register as wheel spin and activate the traction control.
You can probably avoid that by putting the smaller tires up front.
