Never heard of that before. I am pretty sure that the radar bounces off your windshield and back to there radar gun which inturn gives them a MPH reading. Thats the princpal concept!?

No, It shouldnt I have an excort it has the 360 degree radar detector, and cops have tried to sneak up behind me, my windows are limo tinted, and it still detected them...
just some advise radar detectors dont work if they are they are sitting waiting and then releasing the trigger to gun you.. can happen in under 2 seconds.. then your radar detector will go crazy but it'll be too late..

I wonder if the tints that have nickle in them would cause in reflection or impedence to the sensors.

I dont think that would stop it either. They say thats why a lot of states still have front plates is so they can use that also. Seeing that its flat and ugly. LOL

I don't think there will be problems, I know some people who have perfectly functioning radar detectors with the windshield tinted. But no, I'm pretty sure it isn't legal to get the windshield tinted here in Florda. That is unless you know someone who has a tint shop. I think the law is 20% back, 35% front, that's all that is allowed.

the pistons were just getting warmed up so they can win the next 3 games at home... so they will win their final game 4 away and rub it in their face...
:N i have a bad feeling about this series!! I'm going to the next home game... :Beer

Window tinting will not affect the amount of Radio Freqency (RF) radiation that passes through your vehicle. Your detector will still pick up all bands and even lasers just like normal.

And that's coming from a USAF Radar/Radio Tecnician so take it for what it's worth...

Hey i live in florida and its not legal to tint your windsheild here the only thing you can do is put a strip across the front no lower than the AS1 line but they dont really mess with you if its not too much farther but im wanting to get mine done and if caught you could get up to 10,000 fine (B.S. That too F***ing high) so becarefull also where are you heading to in the state??? maybe i can give you heads up on where they will be!!

Out this way they mandate the front plate for red light cameras, drive through cameras and fast track cameras amongest other things. I'm with you on it being flat and ugly.

I was about to invest in a radar detector and was actually wondering the same thing about the tint. anyone know of a top of the line brand out right now? I have heard Phaser quite alot

I don't know of anything that surpasses Escort/Passport. There may be some as good, but they constantly test at the top and I have never had an issue with the three I've owned. They all still work great...I just upgraded for new features.

I am interested in trying one that is "stealthy". You mount the different components on the car and there is nothing to readily show you have a radar detector. That way the cops don't know (for those states that don't allow them) and the crooks can't see one to steal.

not to bad
