This is probably a long shot, but does anyone in the Greensboro, or Raleigh area have a Time Sert Kit 5553 for repairing Fords?
It would be great if I could rent it, or buy it from you.
Not in the greatest financial shape at the moment, and trying to squeeze a little bit more out of this car. I am willing to try this before doing some more drastic.

Out of all the trouble I have had with my 2003 Lincoln LS v8 it blew the flipping #6 spark plug out the other day...... It was the same plug I had replaced about 2 years ago because the coil went bad, and looks like it took 30,000 miles for the threads to wear out.

Also does anyone have any experience doing this on an LS?

I wouldn't say they are notorious but the 4.6L and 5.4L motors from 97-03 had a problem with the spark plugs blowing out. Blew one out on my truck on my way back to school one year and this is the cheapest way to fix the spark plug holes. It is possible to do with it in the car but so many things have to be right to use a Time Sert or a whole new can of worms will be open.

Something along the lines of making sure your valves are closed on the cylinder your working with, make sure you make your best effort of getting all the metal chips out, and take as much time as possible. The best fix is replace the head, the next best thing is removing the head and fixing it, the last is probably leaving it in the car.

I was told a very minute amount of the metal shavings will get blown out the exhaust. They thought the valves were closed on mine but they hit it with the tap, or whatever tool they were using, and bent the valve (they covered half the bill to remove the head and replace the valve).

Not experience in the LS but it's a related situation. Back when I went through this they stated not to use helicoil and recommended Time Sert.

Hope this helps. I was frustrated when it happened on my truck, I can only imagine it happening on an LS.

Thanks for the info.

I figured for around $200 its worth the effort.

Also I made a mistake and its actually kit 4412E that I need.
