THX Sound 1/4 Volume only

I have a 2003 LS Sport with the thx sound system..

The volume only goes up to 1/4 and any more it turns back down on its own.

what would cause this..

i pulled all the fuses. all good.. i checked the amp in the rear and it looks good but idk what a blown or burnt out amp looks like... any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Are you using the steering wheel controls or the knob? If just the steering wheel controls does the knob give the same results?

your car is trying to tell you that you have terrible taste in music.





seriously though, i would unplug the harness that handles the steering wheel controls to see if the problem still exist, this would at least rule out the SW controls having a problem.


does this happen 100% of the time?
does it take a little time for it to behave this way or will it do it immediately, including right after you turn the car on as well?
does the volume knob act perfectly the rest of the time?

i had the same issue on my 2003 LS. i replaced the head unit with aftermarket one. problem went away.
