if you have a V6 go look at your throtle body at the little metal peice that rocks back and forth when you give it gas. someone(previous owner im guessing) decided to use this over sized plastic piece of s*iT as a make shift fastener and because of its size it cause the throtle to jam on me and not stop today. imagine my fright passin threw a crowded neighborhood and not being able to slow down because your throtle is stuck in the full power position. WTF ... now ive heard i cant purchase this little piece of plastic thats smaller than my finger nail by itself..FORD wants me to get a whole new throtle body ...$300+ I THINK NOT! CAN ANYONE HELP ME ?

IF ANYONE IS PARTING OUT THERE LS PLEASE CONTACT ME I NEED THAT LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE

If it happens again you can turn the key off and leave the transmission in drive and it will still turn the engine, which will keep your power steering and brakes working until you get it stopped.
You should still have power brakes anyway, even with the engine off, for long enough to get it pulled over. The booster should hold enough vacuum for at least 2 or 3 applications of the pedal.

Cant give you much advice on what to do about the plastic thing except to call some auto paint supply shops, most of which usually stock a large assortment of plastic fasteners and see if they can help you find something that will fit better.

And of course No full throttle in crowded neighborhoods. That's just not smart to begin with, but now that you know there is a problem make sure you keep the pedal well up off the floor at all times regardless of where you are.

yea ive been searching for the right fit fastener no luck tho but i have a good idea where to get one ill keep you guys informed

Just rig up something new and let the next guy deal with it like they did to you.

nah thats not my style because how would you feel driving with your family and that sh*t happened and you crashed and a family member died...NO thanks...and im never getting rid of my LS ill drive it till the wheels FALL OFF

Do the V6's have the cut off switch under the drivers side of the dash?

I would have just hit that switch but I know how it is having to make such quick decisions. I doubt you will be driving it untill you fix it.

That sucks man thank god you didn't hit anyone or get in trouble.

Also did it get stuck while accelerating and just keep accelerating or were you at a high speed to begin with. If it is the second that is not so smart giving where the situation took place.

The V6 is a Duratec 30, and D30s are as common as toadstools after the rain. Go to your local junkyard and check under the hood of a '96 or newer Taurus (look for the 24V badge) and see if you can scavenge a part from one of them.

Page 172 of the 2001 manual. How ever I think I may have misinterpreted it this whole time. I thought you could use the switch to shut it off but I am now beginning to believe it is used to reset if you are in a collision.

Never knew that was there. But yeah, that's the inertia switch. It's supposed to open the circuit and kill the fuel pump if you get into a collision.

thx for the junkyard idea i forgot im driving a sexified ford taurus :/

The LS has no (or very little) Taurus in it, but the D30 was used in a whole raft of Ford cars (there are companies in Europe that specialize in D30 performance); I just suggested the Taurus because it was the most prolific of the lot, making it a more likely junkyard find. There are some differences between the D30 in the LS and in other applications, but the part you're seeking may be a common part among them.

Would it sound better if I suggested that you go look for a Five Hundred, a Fusion, or a Noble M400? :D
