thinkin of buyin a Lincoln LS - need help

my fiancee wants a new car and she really likes the ls. the only thing is i dont know too much about them. any certain things i should look for when buying one used? are their any problems that are common with these cars? what kind of gas mileage do they get both (v6 and v8)? whats the sports package and is it worth it? how reliable are they? any info you can give me would be appreciated
