Think I may have found the culprit to MC leak, can anyone chime in?

So even after replacing the cap via the dealership thinking the gasket may be causing the leak, I noticed that it's still weeping fluid from the cap. Then I just noticed this crack on the MC reservoir cap thread...



I'm thinking this is the culprit... Anyone agree? Expensive to replace? Do I have to replace the whole reservoir assembly?

ALL of my Ford products weep fluid from the m/c cap. And I've purchased the majority new.

Hmmmm.....I've never had a cap leak on anything. I have seen fluid shoot straight up when bleeding IF the master cylinder was bad. I guess if it hits the cap,it could blow out the bad sealing surface or bad cap? don-ohio ^)

Thanks for chiming in gentlemen. The cap is brand new, I picked it up from my local dealer a few days ago. So I'm thinking it's the actual resoivoir housing. It sucks mainly because it's leaking enough to the point where I have to top it off every 3 weeks or so
It's definitely coming from the cap...

Interesting, yea it's still weeping a bit. Not gonna worry about it right now. I got bigger fish to fry. The one night (last night) I decided to finally take the car out and do a couple of donuts, I got stopped by the cops 2 blocks from my house. The lot was completely empty, 8 pm on a Sunday night. He said he witnessed the "whole thing" and that I "don't deserve another break" (I will admit I've beat like 3 tickets in court in the past 3-4 years). I got a criminal yup that's right criminal citation for "Negligent operation". I've gotta go before a clerk's magistrate and hope they don't press charges. Luckily, my lawyer says it will go away at the hearing since they don't have a case, but there goes some big bucks on lawyer fees. Oh well, lesson learned, next time you do donuts, make sure there's no cops around! Even the cop admitted, "You were in the wrong place at the wrong time!" No but seriously, I won't be doing any more donuts/drifting that's for sure.

That sucks!!!! I guess I better watch out when I take my daughter out to practice skid control!! I usually go to the high school parking lot for said practice.

Hahaha, that's where I did it, at my local high school that has a huge parking lot. It is what it is man, chances are I will probably beat it before it goes before a judge due to the fact its not a criminal offense to begin with and the cop is just trying to bust my balls and most likely had nothing better to do. It's mostly the time and money now that will be wasted that sucks. I know the dude wanted to just make my life hard and show me I'm his b**** which is why I just took the citation and said have a nice day. Have fun with your daughter man, don't let some DB's stop you from doing what you want.
