I had coil that went bad (#7) the other day and I replaced it the next day. There was oil where the coil was which i'm guessing shorted it due to probable leaky gaskets. I had work done on them when I bought the car 9 months ago but I don't know which side was done. How long should I expect this coil to last in this situation? I can't fix the problem until later next month because I need the car to take my girls to the snowball... ne ways, I hope it buys me enough time.

I think you should have time but i wouldn't push it. I need to do mine soon.

Depends how bad the leak is and what kind of condition your boots are in. If the boots are in good condition and don't let any oil up inside of them, you'll be okay. I waited about a month to do my gaskets after I found the oil in the wells while changing my plugs.

Well hopefully you cleaned the oil out before you installed the new coil. It should take some time before the oil seeps back in enough to damage the coil. When I got my car 4 of the spark plug holes were completely full of oil. I just cleaned them out and drove the car for about a month before I got around to replacing the gaskets. Probably put only 5 -700 miles on the car but there was only a few drops of new oil in the plug holes when I finally got around to fixing it.
