Evey week I swear I see a new post for "What is the cheapest way to get more horsepower" Apparently the cold air intake, exhaust, sct tuner are too expensive.

Take your front and back seats out! Spare tire and jack, door panels headliner, speakers, radio, and carpet. Lightin up the car 1000 lb and it would be just as good as the exhaust, sct and cci combined. You can drive around on a flipped over garbage can (go plastic they are lighter)

I PROMIES U THIS IS THE CHEAPEST HP GAIN YOU WILL FIND.

IF YOU WANTED TO BE CHEAP YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT A LINCOLN!

plus, the average person should worry about increasing handling BEFORE performance. at least that's my view. why add more HP if you don't have the best control over it.

And if you wanted to be fast, you shouldnt have bought a LS. Sorry guys, go get a Mustang for much less and go race people. My LS with mods will run a14.2 1/4 mile. A G35 sedan which is in the same price range will run a 13.8 STOCK with a V6!!

other cheaper 4 doors that can beat the LS:
2000+ Nissan Maxima with a Stillen Supercharger
2000+ Pontiac GTP with a few mods.
This list can go for a while, Ill stop here

The LS will never be fast unless you have DEEP pockets period!

"Fast" is relative. My LS IS fast, compared to my 12year old 212K mile ford pick-up. When that is all you drove for 11 years, then hopping into the LS, it feels like a rocket ship!

Not sure about the g35 sedan. Maybe a BRAND new one. I have had both a Z and g35 and I really dont think I could run 13.8 stock. I like the ls alot better.

Actually, none of these things will add horsepower. A dyno won't pickup on weight reduction. The butt-dyno, now that's a different story! :D

P.S. Sorry for the double post.

if theres anything an ls was made for.. its to handle. i mean.. what are you gonna do to make it handle for max.. 100 hp+ the original? were not talking about adding 300 HP to it. its not gonna make a big diff. the suspension on the LS is beastly.. i take 75 mph turns at 130 and it feels like im gliding... what other cars can you do that with for the pricetag?

and actually.. i think quiks LS will rip apart a GT. not to mention he prob spent at least 15k on adding the Car to the "CAR". were talking about engine quality here. compare a jag engine to a ford engine.. yeah they both make them.. im sure the jags engines are of better quality tho. i want a fast.. sport/luxury car.. thats why i bought an LS.. anyone who says theyre not fast is fooling themselves. someone said it all relative.. yea but so what! the point wasnt if its relative compared to an old pos truck.. the point was to make the lincoln go a little faster than its orignal speed. why do people insisnt on ripping peoples threads apart and being assertive and tacky whilst they do it? kind of rude if you ask me.

haha, good post ..

I don't care about speed, i just love my LS, i wont be touching anything to make it faster, maybe an intake in the future, but right now, my main focus is on rims, tint, HID's etc.

i guess i was making a conceptual point. and i was assuming the car would be driven in an area where you could really drive it to the limits (such as a track road course). the concept of adding horses if you aren't able to safely control your car (at the higher speeds such as track driving) seems like an accident waiting to happen. I agree that the LS's handling is superior compared to some of the other cars listed. Braking upgrades, and springs/shocks are really all that i think would be necessary to bring it to the "max"... of course, i am only a novice with a general idea.

I find my LS a well rounded automobile; it has not let me down or embarrassed me in handling and performance; I travel in style and comfort.

My mods are to take advantage of what is already there and bring out the best.

Everyone knows to really add hp to an LS you have to add a lot of decals and stickers.

I said fast is relative.
And just because it has 212K on the clock, doesnt make it a "pos"...:D

Most stock Mustang GT's I have seen running at the track were usually pulling mid 14's to maybe low 14's in the 1/4 while trapping less than 100mph. A bolt on Gen 1 or Gen 2 LS would handle one of those. A supercharged, turbocharged, or nitrous injected LS would rape a stock or mildly modded GT.

I also have my race vehicle with its 4.6 Ford modular V8 engine so I have to mention one thing regarding that "jag engines of better quality". You may want to remember that the brand doesn't automatically make the quality of the engine. It is the design that does. The 4.6 modular V8 is a very stout engine that can out down some serious power while still remaining reliable. The stock 4.6 engine blocks (not internals) can withstand 1,000+ horsepower. When fitted with the proper internals I have seen them putting down 900+rwhp with no issues. While the 3.9 V8 is a good little engine the 4.6 is a pretty good quality engine too.

Some of the M5 guys are doing weightsaving stuff. Vorsteiner is making carbon fiber roofs, trunk lids, and hoods. Also some of the guys have gotten Voltphreak batteries http://www.voltphreaks.com/ which saves about 50 pounds right there (costly though)

Some are even replacing the seats with ultralight recaros.

FYI M5's do not come wiht spare tires. THey have a "emergency inflation kit" which is basically a can of goo... All to save weight.
