We're getting rid of our Ls. I can't take the freaking nickel and diming anymore. I went out to the car today to start it and let it melt some snow off, and what happens?? The starter cranks the motor over twice then starts spinning freely. The motor isn't turning over at all but the starter is, which leads me to believe it's either the solenoid, or the splines sheared, or worst, the flexplate splines sheared. Any way though, I've flat out had it with this car. Once again, either me or my wife is stranded with nothing to do about it. And yes, I am 100% willing to eat $4k on the car if it means getting into something with more reliability. The comfort and feel for the car will be missed, but when money is somewhat tight, I can't have a car consistently doing this to us.

Sorry guys. [/rant off]

Sorry to hear your upset about the LS.....Maybe it will all work out in the end.....I just hope you understand a car is a machine and stuff breaks when you use it everyday.....My girl is going through this with her used car now and she wants a new one but I dont think she can afford it.....Im trying to tell her that any car new or used will have stuff break (new is just under warranty) My parents bought a brand new corvette and have had to take it in more times than I did with the LS ..... I hope you dont think I talking DOWN to you I know your a smart guy and realize this....I just had this talk with here last night and I see this Its funny......(not laughting at you either)

Are you gonna stay with a Lincoln or you done with it all together.....I am happy with my car just not my service area.....I have two kinda close and 1 kinda far and they all suck!!! I would buy a lincoln again If I moved so I can get better service....good luck....

If we get rid of it we're staying away from FLM all together. I realize that things are going to break on used cars, but the frequency of which things have been going wrong with our car is incredible. I'm just not willing to be nickel and dimed to death by this car anymore. Fortunately, I found a junkyard starter for $40 so we'll re-evaluate after that goes in later this week.

All my cars (about 10) have been FLM and have had no lemons. Unfotunately it looks like you found one. Thats just bad luck. My 04 V8 has 30k miles and I dont have a single complaint. Been serviced once. If you really like the car think about getting a newer model. From what I understand the 03's and up are a whole different breed from the 02's and older besides looks. no offense to someone with an 02 and older.

BTW if you are looking for parts at the junkyard then the LS isnt the car for you. Just my opinion.

Well, before you jump to conclusions ponder this: I just switched insurance companies and haven't had photos taken of the car yet, which is due by Friday. The dealership wants $210 for a starter which is ridiculous, and not one auto parts store stocks them. THey're a special order item which will take 3-4 days to get in. Rather than go through the mess of losing my comp/collision and having to deal with that due to the car being under lein still, I decided to check around and see what my options were. So please don't make quick judgmental statements like that before knowing the whole story.

Ummm..........not cool. The wife just got home and I had her crank while I look at the front of the motor. Everything is turning as advertised. I don't know if it's not getting spark or fuel at this point, but it ain't runnin'.

so the starter is not messed up.....Well I would see if maybe the fuel shut off switch is off....then check the spark plug with a tester and go from there.....I hope it all work out for you dude

Huge thanks to Mac98SHO, I just got off the phone with him and we've verified it's a flooded motor. More to come.

I hear you on the car eating your money, that is why I tried to get rid of mine even though I love it. Hopefully sometime soon my parents get the loan to take it off my hands. I'm not asking them to buy it, they just love it so much that they want it once I'm ready for it to go so I can get something cheaper(not like a crap car, just something cheaper pymt, gas and insurance wise) and not have to trade in and go under again.
