Well, I wasn't in a great mood to start with...I was quoted 70 dollars for a general tune up...it came out to 760...which never makes me happy spending more money. So, I go out tonight, friend took me to a movie and I went to a party after...I come back home, go to roll up my window and Bam! Grinding noise and it's stuck down.

Dammit dammit dammit.

First off, NEVER pay for a "tuneup". There is really no such thing as a "tuneup" on a modern, fuel injected, ignition coiled car. You should have asked us first, and we could have informed you on what items (fuel filter, air filter, possibly plugs, which fluids to flush, etc) needed replacement and how to do it. Even if you arent a DIY'er, we could have informed you, and you could have used that info to inform an independent shop or Ford dealer to SPECIFICALLY do what you requestsed, and saved a few hundred $$.

With that in mind, your rear window regulator has failed. Common problem.
As a temporary fix, you can remove your interior door panel, manually raise the window with your hand, and I believe you can place something (stick? Object?) into the broken part of the regulator to keep the window in the raised position, until you can replace the regulator.

+2, your regulator is gone, its a cable driven system, what happens is on the "main spool" behind the motor, the cable jumps off causing the window mech to bind, usually you can just pull it up and they will stay

I hope my '03 never has this problem but I guess I am escaping the inevitable....

my 00 has the issue under warranty. My 02 with 86 miles hasnt had the issue thus far. But if it does, I'll simply fix it myself in the garage.

Hah, I'm just leaving it in the garage until Monday. Unfortunately I don't get a loaner car on Monday and it's going to be in the shop all day, just so I know, what exactly do I tell them needs to be fixed?

when i called to get a quote on mine, they told me i had to bring it in anyway so they can find the problem even though i was 99% sure i knew what it was. just tell them what happened and they shouldn't have any problems figuring it out since its so common
