So yesterday the g/f and I go to Danville, VA which is like over 200 miles away from us to see my favorite band(Crossbreed) play at the Plan B. Well the trip up was fine besides 85 but after that the roads were perfect, little traffic, very smooth, almost good enough for just going what you car is governed at but I stayed right around the limit.

So anyway we get there and I am thinking this was the wrong place to bring my LS but other than a guy who came up to the car and I thought he was going to rob us but asked for some money instead it was alright. Only saw one other LS but it was gone.

So anyway, what I really am posting about was the trip back home. I could not believe the amount of idiots that were out. I got on I-40 before getting onto 85 and there was a ford explorer w/ no tag that kept being a pain to everyone(few of us out there anyway). He came up on me and cut right in front of me but kept going like he wanted me to run him. I thought about toasting him but had seen many people get nailed that night and the fact that there was an old grand prix flying along w/ him that ended up leaving him back(had to be doing the max).

Anyway the explorer got up aways and anytime someone would get up to him he would brake and than get back on it. A '03-'04 civic 4 door ended up having to give its all and left him. So the explorer just ends up disappearing in the distance so I figure its good know. Well I get onto 85 and am driving and I see up ahead a vehicle has its flashers on and is sitting between the road and an exit and its the explorer. I started laughing, he must of done something to the engine or a tire went out or it was stolen and they left it. I honked twice going by as like saying "haha" if anyone was in there.

So anywho, there was a few others acting like idiots aswell. After I got on I-485 two cars came out an on-ramp rather fast. I ended up catching up to one which was a older bimmer wagon who started to try and go and I guess thought better(keep in mind I am just cruising, not out of normal). I started to catch the car ahead and all of a sudden I see it steadly increasing distance. Never saw what it was but I about go on it to but again decided not to. The car had to be going well over 100 because it just got farther and farther away. I ended up getting off and taking some back roads because were being rediculous. I hope they all got what they deserved.

Just felt like sharing, I mean I did not tell everything but it was weird out there last night. Going to see NIN tonight, woot!

whats the governor at on an LS anyway?
I cant go beyond 100-110MPH because my tires are total :q:q:q:q. I'm getting some 18's with zrated tires soon. But for now I cant really go very fast.

I saw someone on here saying they will go up to 145-155, is that true?

143 I believe is the top w/ the right tires. Maybe higher on the 2nd gens.

The top speed limiter is dependent upon which tires came on the car from the factory, not the tires on the car now. Simply changing the tires won't do anything about the governor; you'll need an XCal (or an appropriate diagnostic tool that can change PCM parameters) to do that. The PCM doesn't know anything about the speed rating of the tires, only where the speed limiter is set.

AFAIK, 142mph is the top stock figure for all years.
