Any general help would be appreciated..I want to change the configuration of my tail lights by adding a 3rd light in the inner tails(like Gen 1's had) and if possible, change the independant turn lamps into common turn signal/brake lamp.

The first part can't be too hard..maybe just swapping in a Gen 1 TL harness? Yes, I know how little room there is to work with.

The 2nd part I really don't know where to start..I do have a wiring diagram, but the guys who got that for me couldn't suggest a good starting point...

This is a major undertaking if you want them to work correctly and if you don't want the bulb out warning going off all the time. Nothing is impossible, but I can't see it being worth the effort.

Yes, I know. How hard would it be to use the turn lamp wire to power 3 led bulbs on that circuit? If I can do that I would make that the goal for this first try.

Next question is how to make the sequencial/chase module work in such a setup...

Blinking when the turn signal blinks is easy.
Steady when the brake light is on is easy.
Blinking when the turn signal is blinking and the brake light is on is not so easy.

You're looking at a circuit with a few transistors or relays and a few load resistors.

I wouldn't think it'd be a problem. Especially with leds, they don't draw much power.

YES! That link to webelectric shows a trailer harness used for combining tail light functions. I believe theyre part of the new kit they sell for Camaro's.

That is one of the ideas I thought might work..gonna get one and make it work!

Thanks for posting that!!

Unfortunately, it looks like a requirement to make this mod work will be changing the tail light circuit (if not all the rear lights) to work off a positive trigger.
joegr has already given me advice on how to do this.
That's what makes LVC a great board..we have so many talented people who contribute!
