Hey all...trying to figure out this stupid sunroof.

It'll pop up and slide forward..but only go backwards and open once in a while. Once it seemed offtrack, but then popped back on.

If I try and open the sunroof, it'll open an inch or two, then sometimes make a rapid clicking sound and just not open. Other times it'll open no problems....

is it hanging up in the track somewhere, or???

This is my first sunroof car

just a guess, but it sounds like your motor or track is stripped. the real question is where are your dome lights. between the sunvisors=factory, if the lights are behind the sunroof=aftermarket :(

yea the lights are right there between the sun visors...so i guess that means it's factory :)

I started looking into it, and there are pine needles all over the place in the headliner. I'm hoping it's just the track that's gummed up. However, I'll pull the motor out maybe tomorrow. I'm sure a new/used one can't cost that much. I'm eager as hell to get this thing working. Sometimes it's just a single click when I try to open it, sometimes a few rapid clicks. It sounds more like it's hanging up/stuck than a stripped motor. If My motor was stripped out, I'd think that I'd have more of a spinning and more clicking from that motor.

ok...Seems i got it figured out...I shined a light in there, and in each side in the track I saw a tiny round plastic cylinder type thing...it was causing the sunroof to hang up. It now opens!!!

question though, is it supposed to go all the way back?? It opens about 2/3 where it stops. I assumed it should go all the way into the roof....

just an update for future readers...today I blew out the tracks with my air compressor, then greased them up as best I could. I then put the sunroof in the closed position and yanked the motor. Lining up the two tabs on the bottom side of the motor, cleaned the gear off, greased it up and re-installed.

The sunroof now opens and closes fully and doesn't get stuck :)
