Sun Roof Help Needed!!

I looked in the archives and didn't find any threads with my problem. So, here it is:

The sunroof on my '96 Mark VIII is stuck part way open. On the right side of the window frame, the piece of linkage that captures the pin in the frame no longer does so. Both fingers on that linkage are above the pin in the frame.

Is there an easy way to return the linkage to it's proper place?

Does any one know what caused the linkage to do this in the first place?

Any ideas on how to fix this without removing the headliner and most of the interior?
