It seems that the gasket(I think it's called) pulled off the actualy sub and now it sounds like s### and theres rattling. Is it possible to reseal it with anything?
 
If you're talking about the surround I have used 2 part epoxy with some degree of success. I also believe there are patching kits available as well. Hope this helps.
 
Yeah it's not anything internal, it's just the rubber gasket that goes around the circular part of the sub, the part that you can see.
 
silicone works well, it seals and always stays somewhat rubbery.
superglue did not work well last time I tried, it deteriorated the surround even more.

i used silicone and it's what any shop will tell u to use.. what brand speaker is it?


i ask that because brands such as kicker and punch will replace the rubber surround for u..
 
its sounds like your talking about the surround and if it is heres how to fix it:
first call the manufacture if you have a warranty on the sub to make sure it wont void it. then get the strongest epoxy you can by its rated by psi and make sure its made for rubber. then just epoxy the surround and let it dry for 24 hours withOUT your sub hitting, then your ready to go. but dont miss a spot with the epoxy cause so much air flows through a sub one spot missed will split open.

I have a rockford fosgate punch 10" (2 of them). I'm going to try the silicone, I got black silicone.
 
i would do that.. but its never really going to sound the same.. why dont u contact a punch distributor and tell them ur problem.. they WILL charge u for it.. but it will be brand new.. (i think they charge for S&H) anyways.. that should do it for ya..


i know that in stores here.. i can get broken kicker speakers and trade them in for store credit.. the better the speaker.. the more money.. but u can bring them broken down things.. but they give u what its worth..

if you do that and get rid of your subs i have two 10" re audio se subs if you want to get some new ones. I GARANTEE they will sound better then the rockfords.
 
I had an ancient 12" pioneer that I finally blew the surround on. I dont remember the brand of the stuff I used, but it worked pretty good - it may come apart again after a while though, but it'll keep you going while you shop around for something else. You've probably got it done by the time you read this, but I've heard not to use sillicone because some brands may eat away at the rubber (or foam more likely). I was also a little concerned about the extra weight of sillicone (if you put a lot on that is) although it might not make a difference. Just get a strong adhesive and make sure you check the label to see if it is compatible with the materials on your subs - and let us know how it turns out.
 
I used some black silicone, seems to work decently now, but the only problem is now my amp is loose and rattling. I'm thinking about going back to Best Buy, I'm tired of the halfass installations I get from the one near me.
