I've seen threads about the bushings going bad on the Gen1's, but I haven't seen any complaints on the Gen2. Of course, this is coming from a dealer who tried to buy my car this morning when I pulled in. Maybe they think if they try to hit me with a $2K+ bill I will buy a new car. But I digress.

Short of getting a second opinion (which will be mine), anyone ever heard of the subframe bushings going bad on a Gen2?

Looks like that damn Jag STR conversion might not be that far off after all!

Yep, Angel17 (or something like that) had one go bad, so he welded something in its place. Mind you, he lives about an hour south of me. We have long salty seasons up here.

We only have long salty oceans here. Winter is some kind of northerner myth down here.

I'll have them explain what the hell they are talking about cause she wasn't very convincing on the phone. At one point it sounded like the LCA, then the swaybar, then the subframe.

Guess I will start putting together that STR conversion crap. Nothing like an excuse to spend money to brighten your day :)

I have 90+K miles on my '06 and the only suspension "problem" was worn-out shocks.

I would definitely get a second opinion and/or make then show you the defect!

It's not the subframe. She didn't know what the hell she was talking about. It's the rear brace bushings that are bad. But I have to buy the whole rear brace from Ford to get them. Just like on control arms they don't sell the bushing seperate. It's $700 parts and labor to have a dealer do it so you know it ain't that big a deal.

Guess I'll go pick up my jack and stands and crawl my fat arse under there and see what's worn.

Here's a bad bushing on my '03. Just discovered it, and I believe it to be the source of my popping noise.
