Sure can.

Not sure, havent pulled the radio on a LS and dont know if it has sub outputs... but you may need a line-out converter to be able to hook RCA's the factory deck

Line out converter off the rear subs (if you have them), power to the battery in the trunk, ground wire and a remote wire that I tapped into the rear fuse box (diode 1 or 2..it's for fuel pump). Everything's done in the trunk if you have the rear subs. I posted a thread on here about it back in the spring of 07 or so.

Either get a cheap really high wattage 2 channel amp something along the lines of 3k watts or (2) 1000 watt JL Audio amps. That should definitely run it safely.

I have a 2000 LS with stock head unit and 6 disc in glove box. Had my 15" L7 wired up. Installed by some goons at Best Buy, please have another place or yourself do this - if you know what you're doing. And use monster cable if possible.

Okay, I have heard people say that you need LOC's to tap into the stock wiring system, but i do not understand this. Can someone explain this to me in laymans terms. I fail to see why you cant just wire RCA's into the stock wiring harness (the connector on the drivers side going into the rear amp).

The factory head unit has RCA connections? From my experience (not with LS units), factory head units do not have RCA inputs to accept amp connections. A line out converter splices into the factory speaker wires and provides the RCA inputs necessary to send/receive signals from an amplifier.

the JL1000.1 has a 100amp current draw. the stock ls alternator output is 105amps.

What does this mean? That you will definitely flip the Check Charging System warning or what? The car will turn off as soon as the sub is turned up?

This is the only pic I have. But the spare tire, jack, and things to tie them down are removed. The enclosure takes up most all of the spare tire well. I used a couple layers of some of that egg crate foam to cushion the enclosure on the spare tire well. Only draw back is all that weight back there; I could actually feel it at first, but now I'm used to it. There is someone on here that has (2) 15" L7's. Don't remember how he had it set up though. For 2 of these beast subs I was thinking something like 1 sub in each corner, behind the taillights. It would be a really cool custom set up. I just don't have the time or money for it.

It means the LS stock charging system would barely be powering the amp. Expect dimming and crazy voltage drop.

How does it sound on the stock deck? Also does it drain alot of battery power? Whats a good way to decrease that because that was always my problems when i had systems on my previous cars, draining the damn battery.

Alt updrade along with a big 3 wiring upgrade could help. The "Big Three" upgrade means improving the current capacity of three cables: 1) alternator positive to battery positive, 2) battery negative to chassis, and 3) engine ground to chassis. Some people replace the factory wiring; others add additional cables to the factory wiring.

The battery is generally only used when the car is off. While the car is on your running most everything off your alt. If you want to play your system with the car off a lot then you will need to invest in a high quality deep cycle battery or multiple batteries. Big 3 wont affect performance with the car off, however it certainly may charge your battery quicker. Additionally you may want to add another battery instead of replacing your stock battery and run an isolator so you can play your system till your battery dies and still start the car thereafter.

When you drain a standard battery, it wont charge completely. It called a deep cycle. Do it several times and you will have a battery that wont hold a charge. Get a deep cycle battery like an optima, they are made to drain completely and restore fully.

Capacitor definitely helped my exterior and interior lighting from dimming, and RPMs from fluctuating while having the sub turned up on an idle.

They may help dampen the spike a little when the bass hits, however, they act as another load on your electrical system that your car will need to power.

I don't think he needs extra batteries until he beefs up his alt. Batteries only help get the car started then the alt takes over ;)

If he were just playing the system with the car on then he wouldn't be draining batteries.
More batteries = more power capacity = longer playability.
