what does the valet button in the glove box do?

disables the trunk button. the idea is to push that button and lock the glovebox to prevent a valet driver from getting in your trunk.

What it does is puts my mind in a possition where my trunk unlocking botton didn't work for a year!

Damn button, I figured it out to switch it off somehow.

do all years have that? i haven't looked on my 03 but mine has the locking trunk button where i can use the key and lock it there, would it still have the valet button too?

No, not all of them have it, I think some of the 01s and the 02s have em.
