How the fawk do I take the god damn dash aprt, im tired of this dumb thx :q:q:q:q fawking up on me, i wanna listen to cd's but i ant change or eject... :q:q:q:qs fawked for real... how do i take the dumb dash apart?? i cant do the stall without some tunesssssssssssssssssss :D
 
Im completely hammmered right now as well so fromen dont hate for my horrible keyboard skilzzzzzz right now.. :p

pop the top vents straight back and out (if there are buttons unplug harness)

remove the two 8mm bolts under the vents that where removed

1st gen- remove ash tray and pry out wood trim around ashtray (start at top)
then remove two (either 7mm bolts or philips screws) and remove ashtray slider

2nd gen- remove silver panel around shifter and around the ash tray, start at the back (pops straight up except for the last clips next to the ash tray which pop back), then remove the two 7mm bolts and the two philips screws then remove the ash tray

then remove the last two 8mm bolts that where behind the ash tray and unplug and remove the radio and the climate controls together
 
I had a lot of trouble with the navigation disc changer too (I assume that is what you have since you said THX.) It was replaced under warranty, and no more issues. Before that, jams would always clear themselves after a few hours, or in one case a couple of days.
 
Im getting rid of mine SOON. I was just LOADING a disc and the f-cker jammed somehow.... I have the whole thing down so I had the thing out in about 4 minutes and battery off did my thing put back in and was still retarded... $150 can get me a decent new deck...
 
Cracker can you go take yours apart with some pictures cause I didnt understand that walk through and I dont wanna rip out my vents..
 
lol, watch out on those vents, they can crack in the corners, i use this little hook thing, it looks like a fishing hook or something, slide it into the bottom corners, then twist it and pull out, the vent will come out, unhook the harness, then do the same for the ashtray, use the hook at the corners, and pull, it show pop out easy, theres some bolts that hold the climate control and the radio,
 
Yeah, I was out there got half of it tore apart and the damned camera died... I will have a better write up tomorrow when its not 10 PM at night lol.

I just use a really fat flat head SD and pop it out by the lower corners... Done it 20 times already lol

Or if you want I can just walk you through it over the phone or something. I'll see if I can get the camera on my laptop to work or something and make a tut vid for future peoples.

That would be great actually, either one of the last 2 really hahha and I didnt mean you had to go do it tonight but I guess I should have stated that.. So how do I get the CD's out after taking the darned thing out? Also the MFer isnt closing by itself now either.. :rolleyes:
 
Your lucky you have someone so experienced like myself with these situations... it will all be covered. I'll try for the vid, as long as its not sun shining on the cam it should be good.
 
Made the vid, its 9 GB right now and 30 mins long.... I gots some editing to do! or at least, compression :D
 
LMFAO thought it only took a couple minutes????? Ill be waiting around all day, I need my cd player tonight :cool:
 
Well, if you want, I can talk you trough it right now if you dont want to wait for the vid... otherwise wait about 2 hours for the vid :(

Actually the video turned out to be total crap... lol, I just started watching it to see
 
Also, I completely SPACED! Pektel had a full writeup on taking the thing out somewhere on here!

Once you take it out, there are torx bits holding the plate on both above and below the stereo part. Take those out, and take the plate off. Just pull the stuck CD out with a pliers and plug it all back in to see if its fixed.

Cd Player Cartridge

I bought a 2000 Lincoln LS the 6 CD Exchanger is in the glove box, but it don’t have the changer. Can someone tell me where I can buy one? I can’t seem to find one. Thanks

Try Max @ Five Star Ford or try your local junk yards if you haven't already.
