It's done this a few times about once a month. After sitting for just a few hours I'll go to drive and the first time I use the brakes (lightly, if at all) the pedal vibrates bad and ABS engages. Then right after the AdvanceTrac light will go and the display will say to check AdvanceTrac. It goes right away when I hit the button to turn AdvanceTrac off. Next time I drive it....normal. Any thoughts?

this happened to me a few times when i got my car but not in the last 18 months or so. when i had it in for an oil change i asked about it, lincoln didnt have a good answer for me and left it at that.

I had a perhaps similar problem.
I've only had my car for 3 months. I drive with 2 feet and could feel my brake pedal vibrate every few days. About every 2 or 3 weeks the brakes woud make a small clunklike noise and as soon as I pushed the brake pedal it would sound like it was metal on metal and the traction light would come on.
Then it would say check advancetrac.
After a few pumping applications it would just go away and the brakes would feel normal.
When I started the car again the advancetrac warning would be gone.
My car is still under dealer warranty and I asked the dealer about this when I was having a remote start put in but they told me without a light being on there was nothing they could go on.
My regular master mechanic told me it was probably the abs sensors. The car only had/has about 25,000 miles on it.
He replaced them a month ago and charged me 210.00.
Problem solved.
I prefer taking it to him for minor stuff (just changed out a coil for 100.00) even if it costs me as he's 5 doors away from my house and the dealer is about 20 miles.

They're no worse than any other car really. Ive seen plenty of cars with their fair share of electrical problems. In fact, one of our customers was driving on the interstate yesterday in a brand new 2007 Mercedes S65 that he bought form us not even a month ago. The rear side curtain airbags started making a clicking sound for about 2 minutes, then both of them blew out for no reason. He had it towed in because on his way home an hour later the passenger front airbag started making the same sound.

ok [/offtopic]

Im goin with 04SCTLS on this one. One of the ABS sensors is probably screwy.

sorry but i think these cars are pretty bad. fords arent the best but the ls is just a plagued car and lincoln does nothing about it.

and benz are even worse. they get black dots from consumer reports all over the place for electrical and transmission failures.

I haven't had many problems with mine. Just under 36k miles, I have had this issue and a coolant leak. Not too bad in my book.

I think it's more the driver and driving conditions than the car. I have had friends that always have "bad luck" with cars but it's cause they don't take care of them and drive them like :q:q:q:q.

I have always taken care of mine. Don't beat it. Used mostly on highway always 93 gas and oil change at 3k. any problem it was in to the dealer next day to be repaired i never just ignored a problem and its had a few so far.

Mine runs fine on 91 even with the SCT tune.
It ran fine on 89 with the stock tune.
I like to cruise fast on a short highway I'm very familiar with and use everyday.
It's very smooth and gets up to speed very quickly.
I amost never WOT the LS.
For that I have a supercharged 97 5.7 liter LT-1 Camaro convertable
that was my daily driver summer and winter 25,000 miles a year.
Beat on it for almost 5 years.
Stretches the smile on my face as I accelerate.
Now I just drive Camaro on nice days in the warm weather.
