Stereo inop

When I turn the stereo on all I get is a humm from the speakers. The fuses looked good. Is it possible the amp in the trunk is shot? I am hoping I don't have to go the aftermarket stereo route. It's a 98 LSC.

Sounds like it could either be the amp or the radio itself... I have an OEM in dash tape/10 disk radio I'll sell for dirt cheap...
