Anybody have a problem of the steering not locking when key is out of ignitioning. My newest lincoln doesn't lock.

I am thinking of ripping it all apart and trying to fix it maybe its something minor. Just wondering if anybody has ever experienced this before?

I looked up the part to buy a new one and its like $350. Not really that important for that kind of money.

Well either yours is broken to or you don't know what i am talking about. I have a 2000 and it locks after the key is out of the ignition. You cannot crank the wheel from side to side unless the key is in the ignition.

I already got chastized on this forum for thinking that mine had a broken steering wheel lock. It turns out that 1st Gen LS do not have one. It's something to do with the key being in the dash and not in the collum. Trust me on this one. Bring it up in another thread I am sure others will back me up. That's good news for you becausew nothing is broken!!

My 03 doesn't have a lock either. I've only ever driven mine and an 05, that also did not lock the wheel.
