I know this is a very common topic but there is a disconnect between the original sticky (since it is dated) and what more current threads say.

I have a 2002 Base V6 and am looking to swap my single din aftermarket with a double din. I have the dash kit and a steering wheel harness I am waiting to order...

Here is the dash kit: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TJ5IR6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_8?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Here is the harness I'm looking at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KL6N00/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1WRTEG7T8P2CK

And here is the Metra steering wheel kit:

Now I'm just confused as what I need to get. Is the FWH-600 wire harness only for adapting the after-market radio or does it also include steering controls? I'm trying to make sure I get exactly what I need since that Metra is now a pretty penny.

Also, Is there anything else you guys can think of that I'll kick myself later for not getting, or that I should get?

thanks,

Ian.

Now I'm just confused as what I need to get. .

all three parts that you linked to are needed.

the dash kit makes the radio fit, the wire harness makes the radio work, and the ASWC makes the steering wheel controls work.

also you say that you have the base system, so you dont have any factory subs in your rear deck correct? (if correct, you can disregard the rest of this) from the looks of that harness, it doesn't have RCA connectors for the sub harness (the smallest connector) which will make it a lot more difficult to hook up to the radio's sub outputs. for any body that does have the factory subs, i would recommend getting the metra harness that does have the RCA connectors so that you can just plug it in.

Thanks Loud,

I forgot about that, I remember it being mentioned in the sticky. I'll have to read over that to make sure I get that situated. I remember vaguely it saying that you could also swap out the amp in order to delete the "pop" noise? If that's correct. I'll look the article over again. Thanks again for the help.

Ian.

to get rid of the "pop", you just need to place a 1450 ohm resistor inline with the amp turn on wire.
