Anyone know of a decent plastic/rubber conditioner to use? It's mostly noticeable on the trim around the windows, although the cowl cover is starting to show signs of being UV baked too.

Some may say mask it off and plasti dip it. I use Mother's Gold Back to Black.

Well the real fix is to replace it all, but I'm not THAT interested in doing it. It's to the point where I think a decent conditioner would help if one existed. It's not cracked or anything, just getting some fade and oxidation.

Sorry, that's stuff is on par with adding racing stickers to gain HP.

Eh, care to elaborate? It's worked really well for my trim. It was a dullish gray/black color so I applied some of this. ~3 months later it's still a nice deep black.

Hm, perhaps there is a new formula? When I used it, it literally washed off after it rained.

Actually I just double checked what I had and it's Turtle Wax brand trim restorer so I suppose they probably use different formulas

Maybe mine lasts longer because I garage the car and rarely drive it in the rain. Regardless, I like the product.

You can try Black Maxx by a company in Huntington Beach,Ca called Surf City Garage. They do products for muscle cars and itd awesome stuff. I used it on my friends faded Chevy Avalanche plastic bed trim and worked better than Mothers and Meguiers. Its less than $9 last time I checked. You may also find it in some Pep Boys.

I would just wax the trim periodically (once a month or two), then once you see it's back to normal, you don't have to do is as often but just make sure to keep up with it.

I use Einszett Gummi Pfledge for weatherstripping. Probably doesn't last for jack on exterior moulding though. For exterior moulding, I've used Black Wow with decent results. Kind of a PIA to use though. Poorboy's makes a trim restorer. If it's faded permanently, you will need to re-dye it.

Be careful with waxing trim. A LOT of waxes are not safe for uncoated plastic. They are only paint-safe. In fact, the only one I know of off hand that is safe for trim is Rubbish Boy's Original Edition. SUPER awesome wax, though a PITA to use:

for all the plastic parts that faded, i would just paint.

for any rubber parts, i would just rub it down with some nice bacon fat.

on a nice hot day, the car just smells delicious!

also works great for shining up the tires!

brother mentioned once that peanut butter provides the same results as those "back to black" products.
