Yes and you will have to get the car's computer reflashed so you can use it, from what I understand. Also, in order to start in '1', you'll need to have a custom tune done allowing it, otherwise it'll start off in '2' while in SST.

i just did mine about two weeks ago and it was one of the easiest upgrades i've ever done on a vehicle. you don't need a reflash to make it work correctly, you only need it if you want to be able to use D4 still, when you shift the shifter into the D4 spot it goes into 3 .. but i don't get the point of that because you could just go into SST4 instead...
You DO need a custom burn to start out in first gear in SST mode though, just like all SST gen 1 LSs just search the site for the swap PDF

there's the really good write up, the only little detail missing is when re-hooking the cable to turn the key to on in the ignition without turning the engine on and making sure the Gear readout on the display matches where the shifter is in position before locking it together. it'll make sense once you look at it.
