No its not a mouse or the belt squeaking. I have replaced both belt tensioner pulleys and I am still getting a squeak squeak sound all the time now. The harmonic balancer is locked on, so that leaves what? It definitely sounds like a bearing in the belt pulleys somewhere?

If you did, then take the belt off and spin the accessories/pulleys etc until you find the one that "aint right".

Did you install under drive pullies. Or is this out of the blue. The march pullies I did had a problem with the alt pully.

whole tensioner sounds like the issue...i had the same problem replaced belt...pulleys then figures what the heck changed the tensioner and that was the issue about $80 from ford...

I can try to manipulate the tensioner and the other pulleys without any tension, but I have a feeling they need to spin faster than I can spin them by hand. It all started 4 years ago when I had the belt changed, but the sound would disappear once the engine was warmed up. Then I put another belt on and this is now a constant squeak. Yes it is the right size belt.

It's not about how fast you spin them, it's what they sound like or feel like when you spin them.

Sounds to me, after reading your reply it might be the tensioner itself as others have said, but I'd definatley give the pulley's a spin and see if anything "jumps out" as being wrong.

Yes new belt, then new idler pulleys.

you mean belt, idler pully and tensioner pulley?

if that's the case.. you just might be looking at replacing the tensioner arm.

Do you see a shiny spot directly adjacent to the tensioner pulley on the timing cover?
If so that means the tensioner is letting either the belt or the pulley contact the timing cover..and that means your tensioner arm is bad.

The lack of a shiney spot doesnt mean the tensioner arm is GOOD, but it is an indication of a bad one... it might be pulling the other direction and not making contact.

can you pull the belt off and see if you can pull the tensioner arm away from the motor (would indicate slop/slack in the arm assembly)

belt:20.00
two pulleys 20.00

for 40.00 you could replace them again "as a set".. and might get the problem solved.
you MIGHT have a pulley on crooked, or not seated on the little pedestal, that would make it squeak.

might pull em off and put em back on..and see if the problem still exists.

try to scuff your water pump pulley, mine was doing the same when shifting and I noticed the WP pulley was nice and shiney and causing the squeeks

+1 you could scotchbrite all the pulley surfaces...that's a good point mafioso.. he might just have some "old belt" on one of the pulleys.

Tensioner does not move in our out. Sound is definitely coming from it though. I pushed in on the arm while running and the sound almost disappeared. Can the tension arm be oiled within there at all? If not then a complete replacement will be called for.

there really isn't anything to "oil" in there.. so "no".

The problem isn't lack of lubrication, it's the belt isn't straight.
your eye might not be able to see it, but the squeaking belt is telling you so.

The idler tensioner arm isn't holding the belt straight or the belt isn't hitting the tensioner pulley straight..

you are correct.. replace it.

I had a new belt then a month later changed the pulleys..
Still had a squeak. Called Max and ordered an OEM belt no more squeak.

I think the belt length has something to do with it. A different length belt, maybe only an 1/8 of an inch longer puts the idler tensioner in a different place.
That being said, after my manipulating the idler arm and so on, it has stopped squeaking? I didn't score any of the pulleys.:)
Oh, O'Reillys has a whole new tensioner assembly by Gates for $52.99.

Too bad you didn't get them from Max at 5 Star. OEM parts for a little more than aftermarket and I mean only $5 or so.

But good that you have the squeak stopped. I swapped mine a last year and had to do it again because of squeaking. That's when I went to Max.

I haven't bought it yet. Dayco is $54, Gates is $52.99. If it doesn't stay away I will email Max for price. I try whenever possible to buy from Max.:)

I put on a gatorback belt and idler pulley and it fixed my squeaking. Not sure which one did it, but I didnt want to have to run back to the parts store.

Max is $52.74 Plus shipping.

New Braunfels!
howdy neighbor!

the other places you mentioned you wont pay shipping, but you will pay tax.
with max, you wont pay tax but you pay shipping.

many times max's price has MET or BEATEN local chain stores... not to mention the OEM quality versus the chain store's aftermarket chinese crap.
