In my 98 Mark 8 the rear passenger speaker is shaking around with any songs that have mild base. To solve it I would like to just replace all of the speakers in the car with some that are better and won't rattle and such.

It is the LCS with the JBL system in in and the car is 100% stock as far as I know. There's the speakers that are low in the doors and high in the doors along with the ones on either side in the back seats. Is there any others?

What are the speaker sizes?
What is a good quality but fairly inexpensive replacement for them?
What is needed for the install as far as adapters and any special mounts or tools?
Does anyone have a recommendation for adding an aux? Currently there is one of those casette tape adapters that works ok but the quality isn't the best.

I want to keep the stock HU. I won't be amping anything or adding any subs to keep this as low cost as possible since this car will just be used for commuting. Some tint might need to follow though, there clear all the way around. :slam

Thank you all!

Hifonics are inexpensive and sound okay. some pioneers are inexpensive and sound good too. there are lots of descent sound in expensive speakers. in mine i have 6.5 components in the doors and 5.25 components in the rears. i made my own adapter plates to fit. if i remember correctly there is a 6x8 or 5x8 speaker that fits those stock. however you really are better off just using some round ones. you can purchas adapters for the cheap on ebay. or just cut your own out of some thing wood and spray em black or something.

if you are gonna keep the system stock and its just for a commute then just listen to the radio. you dont need an aux. you said you arnt amping or changing the head unit so you are gonna get the same quality sound out of it anyway. might as well just use the tape adapter

just get 4 cheap 3 way speakers (5x7s) and a cheap head unit. run the speaker wires to the doors and back panels and that's it folks. its not hard. even cheap will probably sound better than the original stuff.

forget this keeping the stock head unit crap. you'll spend more keeping it working than you will putting cheap new stuff in. been there done that,

Years back I replaced the speakers using the oem amp/hu and didn't notice a difference, if anything it sounded worse. My suggestion is to put in some cheaper entry level 5x7's, no sense wasting money on decent speakers using the stock setup. They'll only be able to play the mid frequencies anyways, you will not get any highs out of them as that's what the separate tweeters are for.

If I were you i'd go to the junkyard and pick up another speaker. Or buy a used set on here, they are throw away items for this car so they can be had for cheap.

Auxilary Jack on my factory CD player's low level signal module. Allows me to listen to either my iPod, mp3, audio from a portable DVD player or attach my Bluetooth audio receiver to connect to virtually any device with Bluetooth output (iPads, Tablets, Cellphones..etc) wirelessly.

Kept cost as low as possible by using materials I already had in my miscellaneous parts bin. $0.

I do have a aftermarket HU sitting around that I could use but I did just a HU swap on my truck and almost made it sound worse because it was difficult to adjust it correctly. Would replacing the HU make replacing the speakers worth it?

In my truck I have 2 component Kenwood 6x9's in the doors (reg cab) and 2 ported 10" diamond audio subs and there all wired to a 5ch amp. That sound system is really nice but I don't want to spend that much on a dd.

I wouldn't mind throwing an amp in there or the HU I have but I don't know how to wire everything. Amp is fairly straightforward from what I've seen but the harness is the part that worries me.

Thoughts appreciated. Thank you!

You can get a Scosche car to hu harness for your M8 from any W-mart or Metra harness from any big box chains. You will also need an amp installation kit and hu mounting kit.

The hardest part of the installation would be running the (+) through the firewall. Everything else is not so bad. Just use common sense when installing wires. Make sure to grind off the paint in areas you ground your wires.

The Mark VIII factory JBL HU and amp is a cohesive system or in other words, it's a HU with a detached amp. The amp is also internally equalized for the factory JBL speakers. Any upgrade speakers you add will definitely sound much different.

10" Diamand Audio subs will sound nice in a Mark. I would rock 4 of those in mine.
