Ok, for starters my engine started to miss and then threw a code; don't remember off the top of my head which one it was. Well I looked it up and went to the cylinder, the second from the front on the passenger side (which was the code that was thrown), and took out the coil-on-pack (C.O.P.) and spark plug. The C.O.P. was chard, but not badly. The spark plug was also chard but only on the bottom half (from the threads down). So what I am asking is this just a spark plug and C.O.P. problem? or am I looking at something more than just an easy fix?

I did them about a year ago. They're Irridum(SP?) plugs and Accel COP. I don't believe that there was any oil in there but two other cylinders did have some but they didn't have this problem.

i also had this problem i went ahead and installed new valve cover gaskets and all new C.O.P. and i have had no problems since when your valve cover gaskets leak the oil runs down in the cylinder and fouls out your plugs.

Easier said than done... lol I have a friends that has had two mk8s and I know what a pain it is to take off the valve covers.

yea it sucks but it sucks worse when your changing plugs every few months, just grab a 24 pack of bud invite your buddy over and dig in!

Eh, my Vic has had leaking plug tower seals for the past 60k miles, both of my Marks have as well, and I haven't had any issues. If the cyl that had the problem doesn't have an oil leak, I wouldn't have a problem procrastinating the valve cover gasket and plug tower seals... I'd just throw a new coil at it and see what happens.
