Well that half way answered it. What is select shift transmission? Is there a button? Please use SST in a sentence and also country of origin for full credit.

Slow Sloppy Transmission.

Sorta Selectable Transmission

Selecting Sluggish Transportation

Love the car, hate the transmission.

If you have a V8 Gen I or II, you will be able to get the trans PCM reflashed if you have Gen I you will also be able to get the PCM reflashed, but if you have Gen II V6, I have been to 2 Lincoln and 1 Ford dealers and no one wnets to do it because it was not offered in the USA that way. I am still looking...... We loose D4 option is all, the reflash gives it back.

The SST shifter is basically a manual override for the transmission. You select a gear and that is the only gear available. Too high rpm and you sill bounce off the rev limiter.

It's a different style shifter. Here's mine with my Sirius install. Never mind my work thingie. On the right is a + for upshifts and a - for downshifts. This has been discussed ad nauseam.

Huh, mine is reversed... I pull the shifter back to upshift :shifty:

Oooooooooohhhhh, I didn't realize there was a separate computer for the trans itself, although it did cross my mind. How many different computers are in this car and what are they controlling?! So if the trans PCM is already set up for SST am I able to simply put his in my car without having to get flashed? Or does the other PCM have to get flashed to match the trans one?

Pektel...funny...

You will need a "sport" calibration for the pcm. This is only if you want D4.

Hmmm....well, screw D4. So I can just plug in the SST trans PCM and it will just work? No flash needed? Or..

Ok, this may be getting redundant, but I just want to be clear and make sure. If I take the engine, transmission, and the PCM's that go with them from one car and put all of them together into my car will anything need to be flashed to match any other components on my car? My thinking is that they (PCM's with engine and trans) all match already and will read all of the sensors as they did in the last car. Unless the PCM has my specific VIN or other info that needs to get changed over.

Thank you for your patience.

yours too huh?, funny how that works

the real question is do you pull it back to the + to upshift or is it all half a$$ed and you pull it back to the - and it upshifts:cool:
