A few days ago I installed some Magnaflow slash cut and rolled, double wall oblong tips. I ended up choosing these as all of my other choices did not fit through the 'body kit' lower valance cutouts, or were just way too off in inlet size. I installed these same tips on my Marquis, and was very pleased with them. The tips that were put on the car by the previous owner were SHOT, completely falling apart inside, and chunks were falling out as I lopped off the mufflers with the sawzall

I also installed some 2.25" i/o Dynomax superturbo 14" case mufflers at the same time. They have a nice, deep sound to them, but still a conservative volume. No drone, and little cabin noise at cruising speeds. The stock exhaust was dead silent lol.

Here are some pics, I also snapped some new exterior shots:

I will most likely be painting the centers matte black like I did on the Marquis' tips. I didn't get a chance to paint them yet (obviously) but here are some photochops to give you an idea of what it will look like:

I think it looks better like that. But your opinions are welcome :)

You can see a glimpse of the mufflers there, they're both mounted at a 45 degree angle; symmetrical to each other, for clearance and proper positioning - plus it looks damn cool

Thanks for looking! :)

Yea, I agree. I'm going to paint them once I get chance to. I did the same thing on my Merc.

It has 225/60/16s on it right now, but I'd really like to squeeze some 255/55/16s on the rears for a little beefier look - even though it will have a slight adverse effect on the handling. (7" rim is the minimum width for a 255 tire)
Hopefully the ABS and ETA wont flip out about the ~.4" difference in overall diameter, but I think that's just within the system's threshold for tire variance.

I think they look really nice. Blackened out matches the vehicle perfectly. If you don't mind my asking, what body kit is that. IT really offsets the MKVIII's lines perfectly. Doesn't look riced out at all.

Thanks!

I honestly have no idea who made the kit! The previous owner had it installed. I heard LMS made it, but when I asked Geno I got no answer so I guess they did not ... ?
It has similar characteristics to the kit pictured at the bottom of this page; http://mark8.org/lod/1995m.htm, which says it's a gen1 LMS kit - but the side skirts on mine aren't as pronounced and flow closer to the car.

Whoever made it, I think it looks nice overall. There are a few things I would've done differently with it, but nothing that bothers me all that much.

What I really do want is the crystalline lens gen1 HID headlamp housings. I could care less about the bulbs / HIDs themselves, I just prefer the look of the clear lens. If anyone has a hook up for a set of these let me know!

Don't care about exhaust tips - but I do LOVE your Mark8 :gr_hail: .

Ever thought about blacking out the chrome grille?

Thanks for the new wallpaper!

the dohc tbird, just got those same (looking) tips he was looking at the magnaflows but found ones that look like your photoshoped ones but no resonators built into them for half the price, ill get pics tomorrow

Thanks for the compliments! :)

GMAN: The tips in the second set are the same as the first, but with the centers painted matte black. When I did this on my Marquis, I just used rustoleum hi-heat matte black paint immediately after I finished the install. It has held up fine, and looks great on the car.

All I did was lightly sand the inside some, wipe it down with adhesive/wax remover, mask out the outside and around the tips and sprayed 2 coats. Very easy, 5mins per tip tops. If it starts to fade out, all I need to do is give it another quick shot and they'll look new again
I'm going to do the Mark's tips as soon as I get a chance.

You can get these tips from summit. Here is a link:

These tips WILL change the exhaust note some. I'm not sure if they are supposed to be resonators, as on my Merc it made the exhaust a little deeper and louder - not quieter - with no other exhaust changes.

You're welcome! :D

I purchased another chrome grille to paint gloss black to see how I like it. I've seen a few other gen1s w/ the blacked out grille online and I am on the fence about it. I'm leaning towards keeping the chrome, though - I need some chrome on the front :D
