well i picked this car up in the fall for only 6k and have been driving the hell out of it. took it to the dealer after i bought it had the trans and rear diff flushed, took it to a local vavoline to have the coolent flushed, then put it up in the driveway and flushed the motor and im runing mobil 1 extended life. the cars got 2 issues and any help would be great.

1st is the heat it takes a long time for it to start working, then any time the cars sitting at idle it blows cold. so the car only puts out heat whiles its moving. both the in and out heater lines are how when i checked them and the coolent is full. the heat gauge stays constant with no spikes

2nd is when i shift it from park to drive or reverse it jumps almost feels like when you dump the clucth on a manual i was thinking maybe the valve body is going but wanted some opinions on things to check

thanks for the help

I have had this problem about two months ago. It was blowing only cold air, and the only time it was hot, was when i kicked the thermo to 90deg. but any other temp would just blow cold air.

I took it in and it was the water pump. Everything was under my extended warranty. Now it's heating really nicely.

As for the second problem, that's also been addressed here in the forum. I don't know if there was a TSB for that specific problem, but maybe.

i dont know if its different cause the 8 vs 6, but thats how the tranny is in the 8 theres nothing really u can do about it but get used to it

Sounds normal for the tranny. It's MUCH worse on mine if I attempt to go from Reverse to Park. So, I go from Reverse to neutral, then back up to park. Lessens the "thump" significantly. I have the V8

I'm not sure about the tranny's from the v8 to the v6 either, but mine is the same way. Only seems to happen on the initial start up though. My car idles up a little when you start it, and I just wait for it to idle back down before i shift into R or D. If not, then it jerks like I'm on the gas already.

Also, have you unplugged your battery cables since you've had the car. The tranny has a feature where it trains itself to your driving habbits. IIRC, it mostly affects shift points. After I learned of this feature, I went out and unplugged the cables for a few min., then got back in the car and drove it around for a while pretty harsh (using sst mode). My shift jerks decreased quite a bit plus the car shifts more responsive to my driving habbits. This is covered in the owners manual.
