Smelling rubber? Help?

I have the same issue on my '05 V6 LS. I have smelled it twice, both times while having the heat on. it went away on its own after a few minutes (I might have turned the heat off then back on trying to find what the cause was).

it smells like rubber burning, not oil

well today I put the car up on the ramps and inspected the exhaust manifolds all the way to the cats to see if anything maybe touching the hot exhaust pipes, like maybe some tape from the wire harness wraps the factory does, but nothing was even close enough to cause a burning rubber smell. Then I went up top and squeezed my hand with a rag and cleaned all along the valve covers where they join to the head to see if there was any oil. When I pulled the rag out it was kind of dirty but no wet oil. I took my inspection mirror and looked all around but still nothing. I give up, maybe I will just shut the ventilation system off until it gets really cold.
