Shortened Cobra intake

On my local craigslist someone is selling a cobra intake with super shortened pipes on the lower. Is this normal?

Those looks a little to short for me. You might lose to much low end without FI. But to answer your question I don't know how "normal" it is but it's pretty common with the mustang guys. Done right you shouldn't lose much if any low end and can pick up up 20-30rwhp peak and 50rwhp or more on the top end.
 
Mine are shortened but not THAT much. That would run like garbage on a mark vii, i promise you.


about 1-2 inches per runner shortened would be ideal. I saw great power increase with mine.
 
heres mine, its about perfect but as you can see, pleanty of runner length left...
