I know I saw this somewhere, I just cant find it right now, and I need more info. I'm trying to get everything ready for my SST conversion, and I want to keep the woodgrain knob i have currently and put it on the new unit (which is currently black leather). The only info I could find on removing the knob is that you should pull down on the black plastic sleeve at the base of the knob. I've been trying that with no success. Does the chrome trim strip come with it? I dont want to wedge something in there and wreck anything. Any suggestions?

Ok, answered my own question. For anyone else that is interested - i took a butter knife and wedged it in between the leather on the knob and the chrome strip, and then pushed down. It took a bit of force, but the plastic sleeve slid down. From that point there are two screws underneath and you're home free.
