I got beat by a Trailblazer today… Some punk kid in a Trailblazer was trying to get in the right turning lane from the far left lane as I was in the right going strait lane. I’m sure you’ve seen or done the whole get in front of a person the last minute to get in either there lane or the lane over. Back to my story, so I can tell he’s trying to get ahead of me to get in the lane over. I had just gotten off work and was having a great day, usually I’d just let the person pass but I didn’t feel like it today. He guns it and I gun it however there is a red light with a few cars wait at the light. I let off, even though I could have waited (my SS brake lines work very well). He gets in front of me and into the next lane. I say to myself, I can take this guy after the turn in the straight away! I get into the turning lane behind him. He goes and I go right after. He had a good half a car length to three quarters on me the whole way to the next light. He turn left and I just drove home… I was so disappointed…:( I have a CAI, Magnaflow exhaust and a file tune from Torrie (file that firms up the shift [comes on the unit]). I don’t drive my car that fast every often and I don’t try to race people cause I know more than likely I’ll lose but common… A TRAILBLAZER!!! I had started a thread recently about putting in 3.58 gears with an LSD but know I may just focus on the apperance of the car more than the performance. It seems like going the performance route is more of a money pit…

The V8s are pretty beast in those things. Nothing to brag about but they can move out.
The Saab 9-7, which is built on the same platform, has an Aero package with a 6.6L 400HP V8. Same engine used in the base Corvette. One of those would certainly smoke an LS.

They make a SS Trailblazer, not sure on what motor it has off the top of my head but I'm sure it's a V8. Pretty quick from what I've heard but the only one I've seen is sitting on a dealer lot near my house.

Don't be depressed, even the v6 in those aren't close to being slugs. Something like 280hp V6.

I had a friend who drove a v8 trailblazer and I swear stock! and it would blow out a lot fo modified cars I've seen. very satisfying suv, underrated, I would love me a Trailblazer SS they have suede seats btw ;) I've cruised in one, BEAST!

my best friends mom has the V8 trailblazer, and he loves to smoke people's cars in that thing, because they usually can't believe it.

Both the V6 and V8 Trailblazers are pretty quick. They have a number of modifications as well. I used to own a 2002 LT with CAI, chip and exhaust. It had well over 300HP.

The Trailblazer SS, like everyone has said is pretty sweet.

u dont have to lie to kick it...

KIDDIN :shifty:

This is the exact reason I got rid of my LS. I was once SMOKED by a VW GTI on a 0-100 run. I had him off the line but by 40MPH he left me like I was standing still. Thats when I had my mind set on a turbo car.

The Trailblazer SS will kill the LS in a run. Fortunately I had a run in with a SS two days ago and my Mazda had no problem blowing its doors off. Most people dont expect my Mazda to run a almost 4 second flat 0-60. :D

The LS was never designed for drag racing. It was designed as a entry-level luxury car with excellent handling, greay styling, and a nice list of features..all backed by a smooth and solid (but not blistering)V8. IN addition, we are talking an engine design dating back to 1999. Tough to compare that to newer designs that are more powerful and more efficient.

It's an I-6. And they're not that quick. But they do have buttloads of torque for haulin people around.

GM has been using the same V8 engine block design since the 50's. The heads, and fuel system have changed... and that's about it.

I don’t feel so bad now. I thought they only had V6’s in them but I guess I should have done research before I got my feelings all hurt.

Maybe they should change the name of the title on these forums from:
LS
Lincolns next high performance car
to:
LS
Lincolns next car they don’t put a lot of thought in the aftermarket or a platform that you can’t really do anything with… But it does drive nice and have great styling!:D

I thought the base trailblazer has an inline 6, not a V6.

Yeah, my mistake but it was a cool SUV none the less. I had to get rid of it though because of problems and it was just a cheaply built car, especially the interior. Mine had <60K and was already having major transmission and engine problems. Door trim would fly off when I shut the door and the paint on the radio buttons flaked off all the time.

Actually, the Trailblazer SS is a 6.0L LS2 in stock form making about 400 HP/400 HP. I actually owned one before coming over to the LS. Had some issues and without a job at he time, had to get rid of it. There are many modded ones out there as well. Stock, they run high 13s, low 14s...slightly modded (CAI, Tune, etc) They can run low 13s all day long. Mildly modded (Cam, stall, etc) they can run 12s easily....

Mine was running a best of 12.7 with engine issues. They are fast for a 5000lb SUV. I miss mine.

BTW, I am an admin of http://tbssowners.com that is how I know this...

They have alot of problems though. 2 of my sisters own Trailblazers and one of them had to have the engine replaced (I-6), cost her about 3 grand because it went after warranty. The 6es arent fast at all, they are built for towing, so they are geared for torque.

Hey, you guys that have modded your LS's with performance upgrades does it ever feel like it's all for nothing?
I mean it's been made clear to me that the LS is only for crusing... Part of me still wants to put those 3.58 gears in the rear but after everything is it such a good idea?

Hahaha!!!!

I agree with Lucky_LS, why do you people that drive the lincoln LS think you can race anyone, any you can beat them....
The Lincoln is a great car and I love mine, but, c'mom...you want to race people with this car...that is crazy...most 4 bangers can smoke this car any given day.
This is a sports sedan that weights 3800 LBS, and you have the throttle by wire that does not help the take off from standing position.
Why do people keep wanting to race this car is beyond me.....
Before this care I had a 1996 Eagle talon AWD with $5000(CAN) mods I was in the low 12s on the 1/4 mile.
With this car I can spend $10,000, and I wouldn't be close to the 12s 1/4 mile.
Please stop racing this car you will be in for a disappointment.

wanna bet that 5k I can make a stock LS run 12's for less than 2500

I don't get it either. I never race my LS. I just cruise and the power is there when I need it. I hardly ever have anyone wanting to race me at all. Tilt the roof and put the windows down and just cruise. Its a luxury touring sedan for a reason.
