When I remove my key from the ignition, the steering wheel adjusts itself to the "away" position. The seat does not.

If I reinsert my key (not turning) and remove it, quickly, the steering wheel AND the seat will adjust to the "away" position.

Is there a glitch in the controls? Is this a common issue? Is there a fix, because the seat and steering wheel should both move upon single removal of the key.

2002 Lincoln LS

Well, I have an aftermarket radio. I'll double-check when I go to lunch, but I believe my aftermarket head unit goes off, but I know for sure that the stock one stayed on (did this last Thursday).

just checking cause my seat sometimes does something similar to yours but not often. also my radio turns off as soon as i turn the key to the Off position. nor does my radio light up.

Yeah, it is weird. I can't imagine what the "controller" is. Not being part of the engine, it isn't like it is a valve going bad or anything like that. I hate electrical issues.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Thanks.

Look under the seat and see if all of the elecrtical connections are secure.

I'll take a glance this evening. However, since it is a repeatable issue 100% of the time, I doubt it is a faulty connection. Then again, I have no clue how they wired the damn thing.

The seat should always move back when the key is removed. Check your setup and make sure the easy entry feature is turned on. If it is I dont know what to tell you.

It's noise from the seat position sensor. Move the seat all of the way forward and back several times. That may make it work for a little while.

Well get this... While doing some work the other day, we disconnected the battery. That night, the seat always moved during initial removal of the key. I was stunned.

... But now, I'm back to having to re-insert the key because only the steering wheel moves upon initial key removal...

I must say with all my heart......................... W T F
