SCT Xcal3 Help Please

I'm pretty noobish at this. :shifty: I'm confused on how to pull the code from the car. I cant be there in person, Since i'm deployed and im having my brother do it for me. Can some one explain the process to me in barney terms so i can tell my brother how to do it. thanks any help appreciated
 
I haven't used an X3 but the X2's you scroll down to vehicle info and hit select
then scroll down to read strategy and hit select.

it's pretty straighforward.. have him plug it in and read to you what the screen says, or have some one walk him thru it that is local/phone call.

Or are you trying to pull a DTC trouble code?
The process is much the same, scroll to vehicle info, hit select, then scroll to read DTC's and hit select.

The user interface is fairly st00pid easy
 
Im in the dummy faze of finding the OBC which im pretty sure is under the dash, then from the email i got from ILLS "One note that I need you to make sure that you should not hook the X3 up to the home computer until you have already loaded the device drivers for it" Which to me means if i connect the SCT to my computer before i get the Tune-file email. i can screw up the device, because computers do Auto-Install drivers when pluging into computers.
 
I just explained all this to my brother and it looks really easy. it's now up to him. Thanks for the help.

Hey man it is totally cool if ya want to ask a question in here about the X3 but it is my job as the person who sold the unit to you to assist you in any sort of customer support that you may need. I am here to help ya man so if you need any assistance just shoot me an email bud. :Beer

You can hook the X3 unit to your car and pull the strategy code right out of the box. I think you may have got a little confused thinking that when I said "computer" you thought I meant the car computer and not your PC. My warning for not hooking the X3 up before having the drivers for it installed was with regards to when you link it up with your PC via the USB cable, not your car. You can hook the X3 to your car at most any time; besides when driving. hehe.
 
I just got off the phone with your brother a little while ago. He should be good to go with things now.
 
thank's ILLS its hard trying to do things from over here i dont like doing my own things as a third party. I would rather do it my self, but i appreciate the patients.

I couldn't tell if ILLS was the dealer involved or if you were just trying to help via email {from the original post)
