I'm almost done cleaning up my 93 engine for my motorswap, but durring my paperwork for my tune from sct I hit a road block. What is it safe to spin these engines up to? It's a mostly stock 93 long block with new gaskets and seals with aftermarket cams.

Thanks all!

i would also like to know this. only on a stock engine. i love the sound of a screaming v8 but it just doesnt sound "healthy" to me

Did you upgrade valve springs

No, I went fairly conservative on the lift and was told I didn't need to upgrade the springs. But I can if needed.

Whats safe on stock springs/Stock bottom end vs aftermarket beehives/stock bottom end?

Gen 2 had the beehive springs you want atleast that
with them the motor should be fine to 7200 IMO
But a stock torque converter will not be good that high
I have heard of people cracking stock Gen 1 springs

On 93 springs, personally 6500 is all I would do. I agree, talk to the cam grinder and they'll tell you where your shift points should be... or just do it "right" and have it dyno tuned.

The 93 mark it came out of was shifting at 7000 with no problems the springs may have been upgraded as well I honestly don't know. I just wanted to be sure that the bottom end would hold up to that kind of abuse without forged internals.

I wouldn't spin a stock converter past 6800 or so..

DING DING DING

we have a winner folks!
(raises MediumD's hand up high)

the motor will survive at an RPM that is higher than the TC.

6800 is a little on the highside IMHO.

6300-6400 is "rolling the dice" on a stock torque converter
