rust repair

i have a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII, and I'm getting rust where the quater panels and the rocker panels mate. The body shop guy suggested trying to remove the seam all together and connecting the two pieces together with a piece of sheet metal. Has anyone ever done this on these cars, dose it work?????

Yes... I did it on Stacks car... you will have to clean out all the seam sealer, weld the seam up, and repaint...

sweet, body guy said he would do it for about $300
