Rough Idle

Hey guys... I'm still havin problems... so far I changed the coils and boots... it was running perfect for like 5 minutes then when it got up to temp it started to shudder again... I had a misfire on a couple cylinders but I don't think that's it anymore... haven't been able to pull codes yet still need to erase the old ones out... but the weird thing is when it shudders I hear a little burping noise comming from the air filter box... and it kinda has a ticking noise... I was thinkin maybe an injector or the IAC? but I don't know anything about them... so hopefully you guys can help me out... I just changed all the plugs... got two new coils in there and still doesn't run proper... it runs just not smooth... got any ideas?
 
Get all the codes cleared and see if new ones come back up. If nothing comes back up, start with IAC. Considering it's getting colder an intermittent IAC problem will be more likely to show up in this weather.
 
alright I got the codes cleared over lunch... I have to take a friend out to the airport so I figured that would be enough distance to get new codes... I also got a new air filter for it... figured it's probably a good time might as well... don't know if it's been changed for awhile... I guess it's a good start... do you think the MAF sensor could have something to do with it?... maybe it needs to be cleaned?...
 
Could be the maf... codes will maybe tell, but are not a guarantee. But if you replace the air filter, great time to clean the MAF with non-residue electric parts cleaner. Just don't touch it, bend the sensor and you may as well throw it away.
 
try unplugging the maf, the computer should go into a "fail safe" preprogrammed setting, if it smooths out then thats it, some times even tapping on the top of the sensor with a screw driver handle will make it run better for a few seconds

I'm having the exact same problem ...I don't know what a IAC or a MAF is any chance you can explain it to me? Is there a way I can reset my codes myself?

Don't mean to take over the thread but figured asking about the same issue.
 
to clear the codes without a scanner, disconnect both battery cables touch them together then reconnect them.
 
I got mine running good... I went through the coils just to make sure... but I think it was the air filter... and the MAF... the air filter was nasty... don't know when it was changed... it had bugs all over stuck to it and was starting to turn black in the middle... time to change... but also I took canned air and blew out the sensors... one had a piece of fuzz stuck to it and the other was just really dirty... when I hit them all kinds of crap came off... I'm sure that's what it was... it's running awesome now :)... thanks for all the info guys!!... made it a lot easier on my wallet!!
 
I didn't know you could clear codes but just touching your battery wires together?... I've just been goin to checkers and lettin them do it for free!
 
Just unplug the negative battery terminal, you don't have to do both terminals.
