2004 V8 bought it with 79000 three years ago. Ok, so at 80000 I replaced all the coils and boots. Now at 165000 it appears to need it again, missing like crazy especially on acceleration. Oil changes, tune ups and premium fuel religiously. No smoke or leaks, just did cooling system, but I drive this car 100 miles every day round trip. I drive it between 80 and 110, (I am a cop so...) eventually she is going to give out. Would you guys put in an engine or dump her? If an engine replacement is desired what are we talking here, cost, availability etc. Thanks

I would replace the coils and plugs and keep on driving.

What coils did you replace with? If not OEM, I wouldnt be surprised...but 80k+ is not bad.

My suggestion would be: replace coils and plugs and continue on your way!

Yea the coils generally last around 80k I thought. So your about due again. Just replace them and you should be good to go again.

I agree with everybody else. The coils go for 60-80K. Just replace them and the plugs. The 2004 V8 does not have the timing chain issues of earlier ones, so it might give you a much longer life than you expect. Replacement options are limited to used engines I believe.

Sounds like you keep up with the maint. for the most part. You got a good run out of the coils so just replace em. Should have a lot of life left in it. I'm at 176k on mine and still going strong on a gen 1.

Thanks for all the responses. It is in the shop getting new coils and plugs as we speak. Can't wait to get it back, nothing else I own even comes close to that car
