Ok I have 20 8.5 inch rims with a 42 offset if I would get rims that are 22x7.5 with a 34 offset would they rub or would they be ok im not sure cause they are 7.5?
 
i've never really understood offset but i would think since the width is 7.5 rather than the typical 8.5 i would they would fit. but again, i never really understood offset
 
Well, with 8.5" wide wheels and a 42mm offset should not be that much different than a 7.5" wide wheels and 34mm offset. You will have more wheel clearance with the 7.5" wide wheels than you will with the 8.5" wide wheels. As a matter of fact you'll have 21mm more inner clearance and the wheel will be 5mm less from the fender well with the 7.5" wheel. So, yes you will have less rubbing issues than the 8.5" wheels.
