Help! My husband owns a small gas station/convenience store. He also does state inspections, oil changes & small repairs. Recently our mechanic replaced a customer's psgr tail light on a Lincoln LS for $5.00 (yes, only five dollars). (Sorry, I don't know the year of the vehicle) Now this customer is claiming her interior trunk lights no longer work and that they did work before our mechanic replaced the tail light. One day later, the customer now claims all kinds of electronic devices are not working and wants us to pay for repairs with a Lincloln dealership!!!??? She has also filed a complaint with the BBB. We feel that this customer is attempting to take advantage of our business. We only charged her 5.00 and now she expects us to pay her hundreds of dollars in repairs???!!! Can anyone provide any feedback? Is it really possible that just changing a tail light could cause such problems? Help!

You're talking about the bulb itself was replaced, not the whole tail light housing right? Anyway, it's possible the trunk light doesn't work since it's embedded into the trunk liner which has to be removed to access the tail light housing. Can't see all the other stuff not working unless someone yanked fuses out of the trunk mounted fuse box or cut wires or something. She sounds shady. I hate shady people.

Ah, ya know, I hate people who try to get :q:q:q:q for free all the time. How long had it been between the work being done and when she filed the complaint at the BBB?

I'd say that you'd reimburse them if they can PROVE that it was related, and if they pay for both an inspection on their side and your side. Make it a real bitch to get the money from you.
