yes i have searched.. and no that didnt last long as my patience is becoming non-existant as i get older..

its hard wired.. and i am DEATHLY scared of electricity..:shifty:

do i disconnect the battery ??..

do i use basic connectors and some shrink tubing ??..

should i attempt to clean the bulb with anything prior to install ??..

where should i cut the old wire.. or is there a way to unplug farther down so i can do the splicing out of the car ??..

what exactly do i use to remove the old bulb ??.. looks like a torx driver to me

and is there a way that i can adjust the headlights myself ??.. one seems to be pointing towards the ground more and it drives me nuts

i have replaced pigtails before.. they seem simple but they do not read " high voltage.. may cause death" on them :shifty:

i will try to take as many pics as possible before , during , and after install so maybe it could be used in the tech section

Why do you need to splice anything? 97+ bulbs?

Its always a good idea to disconnect the battery when working on electrical components.

Remove the headlight from header panel. Unplug the bulb, remove the bulb from housing using torx bit. Splice new wires using shrink wrap or electrical tape. Soldering is best, but there are other acceptable ways, like the butt connectors with the srink wrap around them.

Make sure to not touch the new bulb with your hands. The oils on your hands will cause premature failure. Make sure to wipe bulb with paper towl to make sure it is clean.

Replace bulb in housing. reconnect battery and test.

Piece of cake.

To adjust you need a 4mm socket. Pull up about 10 feet from a lowered garage door or wall and adjust so they are both aligned. Remember that a little adjustment on the wall is alot on the road.

ive never disconnected the battery on any of my mark viii's.. i guessing it doesnt f*ck up anything with the computer ??

DC,

Clean HID Bulb with towel/cloth and Alcohol to remove any chance of oil from hands or other sources !

Good Luck,
Sonny

No it doesnt mess anything up. You will lose your radio presets and your MPG rating saved in the message center, but that is a heck of a lot better than being electricuted.

I know I crossed the line and bought a GM but I'm pretty sure I was the only Reverend here. :p

ok.. just got done replacing the bulb ( thanx markviiiedrea) .. works great !!

everything went smooth as possible except 2 minor things...

i forgot to charge the camera so it went dead on the first pic .. my bad

and i seemed to have gotten a small amount of brake cleaner on the housing lens ( i used it to clean up the tiny screws holding the hid bulb in.. and it worked great )..

it made a mark on the lens that isnt wiping off.. should plastic polish and cleaner get rid of this??

Brake cleaner makes a great paint remover. I am not sure if that spot will come out.

it better !!!.. ill have to buy a new housing because that will drive me nuts.. no matter how small it is.. i know its there

owning a headlight refurbishing business, the best thing to do is sand the outer housings with 600 Grit, and use a urethane(sp) clear. it will fill in and repair any blemishes and you will have 100% offer a UV protection so they will never haze or yellow out again.

urethane clear??.. is that a paint id be spraying or like a liquid id be pouring onto the lenses

yup yup. your housing dont require alot, best plan is to clean them yourself by sanding them smooth with a WET 600 grit, and take them to a body shop and ask them to clear them when they are clearing a job, it would goto waste otherwise so they shouldnt charge you much just about 4oz in clear.

sounds good.. i have a friend who works at a maaco ( i know i know ) so ill get the paper from him and have him spray them for me

There is nothing wrong with Maaco. They have a poor rep due to the lack of skill they hire. Ive seen great work come from maaco, and Ive seen trash come from major chain bodyshops like Service King or Caliber collision.

Its a matter of trusting the prep work and the painter ;)
