I was wondering if there are any 'special' tools required for changing the front brake pads. I do plan to have my rotors turned, as there is a slight groove or lip around the outer edge of the rotors. This is the first brake pad replacement done to the front of this vehicle, currently at 37,500 miles. I am unsure of how long they are supposed to last. The brake pedal 'feel' is different and I hear that familiar 'brake sensor noise' every time i come to a hard stop. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!!

If you consider a disc brake pad spreader a specialty tool, then yea. It will compress the pistons back in place to make fitment of the new pads easier when you place the caliper back into position. Make sure you remove the cap from the master cylinder before doing so.

The caliper is held on by two 12mm(might be 13) bolts. To make it easier, turn the wheel all the way to the right while working on the drivers. Passenger is vice versa.

This is the tool
