replace hydraulic pump

has anyone replaced, removed or bypassed the hydraulic pump that runs the fan on a 2000? How did you route the serpintine belt?

Buy a shorter one? I've heard of a few people doing this and replacing the fans with electric units. I don't know if they just got a shorter belt or if they made a bracket with an extra idler pulley on it to put in place of the pump.

It looks like it will still touch the pump if i get a shorter belt.

Why not remove the pump?

not sure if i was able to attach pic. If i remove it, it looks like it will touch.
