A few weeks back I slammed on my brakes and sent a 44oz soda into my console (2003 LS)! Now Ive got some sticky buttons on my climate control panel. I was able to remove the middle console and extract the stereo but for the life of me I cant figure out how to remove the paneling for the climate control. It appears as if the panel is wrapped around some circuitry and Im a little hesitant to start prying on that stuff. Any suggestions or pictures? Is there a better way to clean behind the buttons...maybe 'pop' them off? I've searched all over the forums but cant seem to find any info.

Zero residue electrical contact cleaner from Radio Shack, just spray around buttons liberally.

The zero contact electrical cleaner did fix the sticky buttons. Unfortunately, it ruined my cd player. I still have radio functionality but anytime I switch over to cd, it 'revs' up and then displays 'CD ERROR'. I am also unable to eject any cds. Am I right to assume its shot and I now need to replace the entire head unit? :(

If it's just the CD player, consider yourself lucky.

Now you have an excuse to upgrade to an aftermarket double din unit with nav/dvd!

you need to loosen up the 10 or so little torx screws and detach the circuit board from the panel.

guys, he has already fixed that problem without having to remove the panel.

Thanks for the quick replies folks. I think i got both issues fixed. the zero contact cleaner worked great to un-stick the buttons. After I sprayed it on, I let it dry for an hour and came back to a cd player that was not functioning...it was showing 'CD ERROR'. I did a bit more searching and found a thread regarding stuck cds/alignment. I found a cd that was stuck upon ejection (first time this has happened to me) and was able to pry it out with pliers. A few more tweaks to the front panel and ejector and I somehow popped it back into alignment. I dont know if the zero contact cleaner and the stuck cd are directly related but it was strangely coincidental. Anyways, all is working as should. Thanks for the help!
